Designed for diversified business IT environments, the TVS-872XU features an 8th generation Intel® Core™ processor, Mellanox® ConnectX®-4 Lx 10GbE controller, and PCIe expansion for 25GbE / 40GbE connectivity to boost intensive large file sharing, heavily-loaded backups, or virtualization applications. PCIe expandability also allows for installing graphics cards to empower AI workflows and video transcoding, and the 4K HDMI 2.0 output can display surveillance videos on a monitor or TV to improve surveillance management.

The TVS-872XU features an 8th Gen Intel® Core™ i3-8100 quad-core 3.6 GHz processor and up to 64 GB DDR4 memory, delivering higher performance to help you accomplish more tasks efficiently. It provides four Gigabit and two 10GbE SFP+ LAN ports, supports SATA 6Gb/s drives, and features AES-NI encryption for delivering high performance while also maintaining the security of your data.

Dual-channel memory delivers power-smart performance
The TVS-872XU supports dual-channel DDR4 memory in four Long-DIMM slots. When using paired memory modules, the TVS-872XU can leverage the power of dual-channel architecture to boost performance. You also customize the memory configuration (supports up to 64 GB RAM) of the TVS-872XU for greater performance to tackle dynamically-changing workloads such as virtualization.

Dual 10GbE connectivity optimizes high-speed data transfer and VMware virtualization with iSER
The TVS-872XU provides two 10GbE SFP+ ports that use the Mellanox® ConnectX®-4 Lx SmartNIC controller. They support the iSCSI Extensions for RDMA (iSER) protocol, allowing data to bypass general network drivers, the socket layer, and to directly enter memory buffers of the ESXi server and storage to offload CPU workloads. When both the VMware® server and the TVS-872XU support iSER, it can provide up to 60% increased random read/write performance and 50% decreased latency, providing an essential tool to optimize demanding virtualization applications.

Recommended usage of PCIe slots
The TVS-872XU provides multiple PCIe slots. To ensure that the SATA drives have sufficient bandwidth, it is recommended to only use low-end expansion cards, (such as a 1GbE NIC, USB 3.0 card, or Wi-Fi adapter) with the PCIe Gen2 slot (Slot 1) as this slot is connected to the PCH. For high-end expansion cards (including 10GbE/40GbE NICs, SAS cards, Mustang-200 acceleration card, and graphics cards), it is recommended to use PCIe Gen3 slots (Slot 2, 3, 4) as these slots are connected to the CPU.

Graphics cards are optimized for graphical calculations and transformations. The TVS-872XU provides PCIe slots for installing an AMD Radeon™ or NVIDIA® graphics card to boost data-intensive AI machine learning, while also providing benefits for imaging processing and virtual machine performance (via GPU passthrough).

The TVS-872XU centrally stores data and files, and supports SMB/CIFS, AFP and NFS protocols for file sharing across Windows®, Mac®, and Linux®/UNIX® networks. Coupled with Qsync (a utility that turns a QNAP NAS into a safe, high-capacity data center for file synchronization) any file uploaded to the TVS-872XU will be made available for all linked devices, such as computers, laptops and mobile devices.
